A hallmark guarantees the metal content of your piece of jewellery. It means that your jewellery has been tested and meets the legal requirements set out in UK law.

Sterling silver is 7.78g, so all items weighing more than this must be hallmarked.
Gold is 1g, so all items weighing more than this must be hallmarked.
